Interlude: Black Angels played Angel Orensanz, Sept. 7

Note: I'll be keeping the "Interlude" tag for future concert reviews, but I'll be taking the "brooklynvegan" title style for clarity. Search engine optimization!

Last Tuesday, Black Angels played an intimate gig in the beautifully lit Angel Orensanz building, which is as gorgeous as it is hard to remember how to spell. It was an invite-only event, so thanks to Andy over at the Orchard for hooking me up. The Angels played songs off their new album, Phosphene Dream, which is out tomorrow in the U.S. and today in the U.K.

They've got a dense, earthy sound, with flecks of shoegaze, blues and psych. It definitely resonated well in the space, which was (once again) beautiful to shoot. More coverage at Spin, Metromix and East Village Radio, which has some videos.
