Interlude: The Stars Come Out At Night

Joe's Pub, NYC - Oct. 3rd, 2006

As you can see, I succumbed to temptation and attended Amy's solo show, although the term seems lacking, as she played with six (!) backing musicians. It was a country-fied affair, complete with banjo, horn and the obligatory acoustic guitar. The set list was based on Honey From The Tombs, but was bolstered with with a number of b-sides. Highlights also included a lovely rendition of "Look Up," as well as a lush arrangement of Death Cab's "I Will Follow You Into The Dark." It was a very enjoyable show, but as with Emily, I'm looking forward to seeing the main band as soon as possible.

Speaking of which, Kwaya Na Kisser has the recording of the Emily Haines show I was at, which is pretty sweet. CBC Radio 3 has her recent show in Toronto streaming as well. Finally, syndication from Angry Citizen. Thanks guys!

As Amy was kind enough to provide all us Stars fans with "Look Up," I'll return the favor and provide you with the set they did on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic (check out the new site!). This was later condensed on Sounds Eclectic, which aired on Feburary 29th, 2004.

Enjoy:

1. The Vanishing
2. Heart
3. Your Ex-Lover Is Dead
4. What The Snowman Learned About Love
5. Elevator Love Letter
6. Life Effect
